On Saturday night, unknown person(s) removed two jet skis from a home near Lakeside Park. The jet skis were used for either "joy riding" or a fuel theft. One of the jet skis was damaged in the theft when it contacted the dock. The Pell City Marine Police is investigating this night time offense and appreciates any and all information that the DW group can provide. While investigating this case we also learned of a fuel theft of a docked boat near Hwy 34 bridge (unknown date) and two recent fuel thefts near Willow Creek. This is definitely a case where we need everyone on the Dock Watch Program to come together and be extra vigilant. Reporting any and all cases of suspicious activity on the lake side of your property will be the most efficient means to deter crime and/or apprehend these thieves. As a suggestion, it will also be helpful to do the following to improve the security of your property: 1) Use the 'lock" mechanism for your jet ski when it is left unattended. 2) Remove all "attractive items" from your dock and vessels (PFD's, Rods/Reels, depth finders, etc). 3) If you notice anyone selling such items on the roadside, or other conspicuous places, notify the Pell City Marine Police for follow-up verification. Thanks again for all that you do in helping preserve the quality of life in our community! Greg 1905 1st Avenue North Pell City, Alabama 35125 Direct Contact: (205) 753-3817 dockwatch@epell.net

Sensor lights on docks really discourages thieves and vandals. So does a 12 gauge!
