Hey CRD, a Covid serious question .......and maybe the trolls won’t come out and polute the conversation. Why does it seem that Covid is now surging thru the younger ages, whereas earlier it seems to have passed them by as it affected mostly us older targets??

Not trolling here but my guess is that what you are seeing is the Delta variant that is more transmissible than the earlier variants, although apparently less dangerous.  Remember, a higher percentage of the older population has gotten the rMNA gene therapy which offers some protection from the Delta variant, albeit it is slowly wearing off.  So to me it's no surprise that we are seeing more infections with younger people which in my view is a very good thing since the recent CDC study indicated that natural immunity from a prior infection is ~13x better protection than the gene therapies.  And we know for sure that younger people are significanlty less prone to serious infection, hospitalization and death than those over age 65 and with co-morbidities.

For the most part, MM has highlighted the major points.  There are some studies that are now showing that the newer strains have the ability to enter nasal epithelium via the ACE2 receptor  more effectively and efficiently without the need for the accessory co-receptor NRP1, which children have less gene expression for.  It seems to all boil down to how efficiently the virus enters  the nasal epithelium in the early stages. In the earlier strains, adults with abundant NRP1 expression had the necessary mechanics to allow easy entry of the virus into cells.  Children, not so much, but the virus is now attempting to do an "end around" and infect those without the need for these important co-receptors.

Are you familiar with the work of Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche?  He also had some ideas about the fact that younger people tend to be more susceptible to the Delta variant that is probably along the lines of what you described.  Frankly, half of what he says is way over my head but here's the deal with him and others like Dr. Malone.  Everything they predicted in Feb/March of 2020 has come to pass and pretty much everything the CDC, WHO, NIH and other so-called experts predicted has been wrong or had to be substantially amended.  He predicted that the mass vaccination would cause variants that would cause breakthrough infections and all we need to do is look at Israel for proof.

Could it be that the thousands and thousands of illegals pouring over the border with as many as 20 % testing positive and then being taken in small groups and destributed to small town America? God alone knows where these people come from. Here in Pell City i have seen a number of Spanish speakers as well a number of Kenya's in our local car wash. These could be well the source of the rise in infections. 

  I guess Biden is thankful of the mess in Afghanistan to divert America's attention away from the poisioning of America. I am almost certain that the virus was intentionally released on America and, if so, this is an act of war! At the very minimum it would be an act of extreme carelessness. It is interesting to note that a number of the researchers working there seem to have vanished!

   Even if it was an accident, one is responsible for damages. What it countries like the U S, Englane, Australia, France and the like take it to the World Court and sue China for billions and billions?  I know China would never pay but these countries could seize their assets  and stop dealing with them! That may well end their march to conquer the world for once and all and the lawyer, for once, would be heroes!

That the government agencies that you mentioned are both influenced and constrained by politicians.  Political Appointees run these organizations and those appointees are serve at the pleasure of whomever is sitting in the WH, and they are dependent upon Congress for their funding.  Even after Biden said that everyone would need a booster and that those would be avaialble starting September 20th.  In the last week they have gently walked that back, in a low key kind of way.

I agree with your observation about the impact of political appointees.  But one of two things is happening.  Either they are getting bad advice and information from the civil service employees or they are getting good advice and are totally ignoring it.  And this goes back to the Trump admin because a lot of the incorrect statements or predictions came prior to January 2021.  It is likely a combination of both issues so its hard to differentiate from basic incompetence within the agency or with the politically appointed leadership....either way, they have been wrong so many times it's very hard to trust anything they say.

I definitely think the WH is throwing out the talking points and the rest are just following on.  Most of the scientists have probably worked at those agencies through multiple administrations.  I'll bet if you talked to them, you'd find out that they are totally frustrated with both Administrations through the COVID.  

I don't know if they are wrong, as much as they have had a steep learning curve and both Administrations want to put a positive spin.  Biden can't take credit for developing the vaccine, so he figures the next best thing is demanding boosters.  

You know, I have now been retired for 15 years and I am so glad that I am.  I thought the Iraq conspiracy was the worst it could get as I went out the door, but I've seen a lot worse since I have been out.
