Does anyone have a good recommendation for a boat dock manufacturer/builder? I recently purchased a lake lot and am now planning to put in a 1 or 2 slip dock this winter. Ideally, I would like to purchase the partially assembled components and put it together myself.

-I have a 2-slip dock made by Free State Boat Docks. It was here when I bought the house. It's about 8 years old, and I'm very happy with it (knock on wood!). Don't know how others feel. -I've never heard of a build-your-own, but sounds like it might be fun, ..if you have a lot of experience in that area. From my view, a lot depends where your dock will be situated. If you're in an area where there is a lot of wake activity, you want to make sure you have some serious welding or bolting. From what I'm told by long-time lake dwellers, wakes put a lot of stress on dock joints and poorly built docks will eventuaally split where joints weren't done well. -Good Luck!

I recommend Flotation Systems, 800/711-1785.

Hey thanks for the advice. I know flotation systems is very good - although a little expensive. I've gotten feedback on Free State docks from others - most good, although a couple of people complained about how long it took them to build a dock, but quality was good.

We had a horrible experience with Flotation Systems lasting over a two year period. We finally had to hire Lakeside Innovations to come out and finish the job. Last May 8th '08 our dock was destoyed by the tornado crossing Smith Lake. Lakeside Innovations installed our new dock on July 24th '08. My advice? Don't waste your time with Flotation Systems, life's too short it's not worth the aggravation. Hope that helps!
