Bigger, Faster Boats are coming to LM

A substantial movement is underway to increase the size of permissible new boats on the lake to 39'11" with no speed restrictions.

The fix is in and the new law will be in place for next summer .

Why is this a secret?   Others on the forum have know this for some time and have not revealed it.

Thanks for the heads up - the wife wants a new boat, but we may want to wait for the assault boats restrictions to be eased.

Anu$, you must live on Lake Lanier. There are no enforced boat length, or speed restrictions on this lake. If you got it, show it off, run over somebody, kill 'em, be the envy of every other red neck drunk on the lake. Yeah! Oh, and make that sucka' loud so you can irritate all the humans.

There is NO speed limit on Lake Martin, there is however a limit on boats that are "capable" of going over 60 MPH IF they are over something like 26' 11" in length - does that make you feel better? So as long as your boat is 323" long or shorter, you can go as fast as you want.

Quit pushing your agenda for bigger government and regulation. Eliminating the big boat ban will be one step in getting the government off our backs. Rather, you continue to support their involvement is our daily life because some may be having too much fun. Just keep putting around the lake in your 25ft pontoon with the 20HP 2 stroke and quit complaining and supporting government regulation of our leisure time. The state reduced the number of marine police in order to reduce the budget and avoid a tax hike. Yet, you want more police to patrol the lake and higher taxes. You appear to have no problem with more regulation and higher taxes when it supports your agenda.

Actually, I do NOT support the "big boat" ban, and think that it is NOT something that is helpful. I question the purpose (not really - in a word - developers). The boats that are made for speed are less dangerous to everyone than a small boat with big motor, but this bill had nothing to do with safety.

I love how its always an ego thing. Why can't it be a hobby, a lifestyle, an interest, instead of wanting attention, or showing out??

She is still hoping to hit a triple digit IQ before reset. I think it is more envy than anything else. Instead of "man, I bet that is fun", it is "man I don't have one, that's not fair". Boats, cars, firearms, houses, TV's, grills - does not matter what it is, if you don't "need" it, don't buy it, but why begrudge those who can and do. If I could afford a nice boat/car/house - I WOULD buy it...

because you own a fast, loud boat you are a drunk redneck? Ha, then My guess would be that if you own a pontoon you must be a grey haired retired fart that doesnt want to go fast because you know your time on this earth is almost up! Or maybe that secound hand ragged out p.o.s. is all you can afford on your fixxed s.s. budget! The Marine police do an excellent job of getting drunks off the water - no matter what they drive. So dont think your fooling anyone as you get stoned cruising aroung in your granny's pontoon - they are watching you too!
