of this forum into obscurity. It just died. Hate it. I used to enjoy the new ideas, competitive methods, equipment reviews, etc, etc.

If it were not for myself, LNG, TallCotton, Talisi and Roswellric it would have died last Summer.

Don't know why..

I guess we all got too busy enjoying the lake to post. Had it not been for this forum I would have not gained much of the knowledge I have for smoking. And I sure wouldn't have been able to reach out to Masterbuilt for the replacement of a defective unit. Thanks to all who participated. One last question, I have my upright freezer set to 0 degrees. Is this colder than needed? Where do you set yours?

I have two, one at home and one at the lake. I think the lake freezer is set on "3", and the home one at "4".  Have no idea what that means on a temp..

But, both are probably colder than needed. Suggest that 0* is lower than needed. I have digital thermometers at both places, but have never measured temps inside the freezer??

Key Lime Pie::

Pre-made Graham Cracker crust

1/2 cup fresh lime(not lemon) juice

4 egg yolks (save whites for later)

1 can condensed milk

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Whisk egg yolks, Gradually add the milk still whipping. Slowly add the lime juice whipping constantly. The pie will thicken as you go along. Pour filling into pie shell and bake at 250 for about 15 minutes to insure filling sets completely. Refrigerat until pie is completely cooled.

Meringue:

Beat egg whites with mixer on medium speed. Gradually add sugar still beating. Add cream of tartar. Beat until soft peaks form. Spread over top of pie. Refrigerate.

No like meringue? Try cool-whip spray topping. Not bad at all....

The FDA recommends 0 for your freezer and 40 for the fridge. Of course they always go to extremes so maybe that is a little overkill.

Thanks for the compliment Mac. I wondered what's going on.

And... 0 degrees Farenheight should be the minimum low temp for your freezer. I keep mine at about minus 4-5 degrees just to make sure. (And the refrigerator should be less than 40).

I miss all the ideas and conversation, fun and humor too!

Peace!  RR
