A Georgie fan set fire to toomers corner tree after the game this weekend. A couple of punches and they burn down a land mark. Wow getting kinda ugly!

I wouldn't go there if I was you.... The forum has been quite dignified about the UGA-AU game. I'm sure everyone would like to keep it that way. In simple terms...bug off.

In my opinion, all of it is a clear indication of the sad state of sportmanship.  Thowing punches and getting revenge is not what sportsmanship is about.

In an age of political correctness, I welcome a little throwback to some old school tactics. It won't be long before Ole Miss will have to get rid of the Confederate gray and quarterbacks will have little flags hanging on their waists for the linemen to grab.

bad sportsmanship to be "old school".  It's not PC that keeps people from acting out -- it's the idea that you respect your opponent, and the realization that end of the end of the day personal integrity means more than the game.  I shudder to think what kind of traits these people will take out into the world when they no longer under the protective custody of a coach and a uniform.

No disrespect, but I played ball with guys who got in fights during games in the heat of battle and to my knowledge have never even said an unkind or disrespectful word to anyone since. It happens. No big deal.

it was a fan ...not a player that started the fire ....i suppose he or she played sports in high school or college...

I was responding to a comment about the players actions

fans on High Street in Columbus Ohio crunch up an old VW bug and carry it into a bar after "the big game"......it had Michigan plates.  Could have been a planned event, but not sure. Either way, It's amazing what fans will do in the heat of a rivalry game. Spirited shows of loyalty are usually done in fun, but the human "stupid gene" sometimes gets magnified by alcohol.

I have no problem with displays of loyalty or spirited fun, but destruction of property goes just too far.
There is always someone that has to take it a bit too far.

And I think that sportsmanship extends to the fans too.
