Northern Italian is completely different.  When I lived in NJ, we had both kinds of Italian restaurants.  We also got Sicilain piizza whic was thick crusted, baked as a square and cut into squares.  

Yes, the real Italian pizza is different - not loaded with toppings like here.  

All this talk about Italian food is making me hungry.  Although I will say that the Italian restaurant in Alex City has a decent red sauce.  A friend asked me if I thought that the people that cook there were real Italians and I had to wait until I tasted the sauce.
