From watching her interview with Matt Lauer on Today, I think that Sarah Palin has made it plain that she isn't going away. I think it must be very hard for candidates when they lose an election, no matter who they are. These are very self confident people who are used to winning -- and there is no way around it that when you don't win an election, you are failing out in public. I'm sure that both her and John McCain have ruminated a lot about the campaign. It's the natual thing to do.

There is no question in my mind that there isn't much that McCain/Palin could have done to win this election. I think they could have done more to draw a line between the current Administration and what they would do and might have been more productive than what they did. But even if they had run a perfect campaign, I'm not sure they could have beat the Bush baggage.
According to some new poll, Bush has the lowest popularity rating in the history of such a poll being taken. He's lower than Nixon, when he resigned and even lower than Harry Truman. As much as I have disliked this Adminstration, I think it is sad to leave an 8 year term on such a low note.
