The younger generations seem to have a different perspective about working than my generation. They refuse to work for the pay they used to get, and feel that they shoud be paid at a much higher rate. Then, they claim that they are being asked to work under "abusive" conditions - i.e. they don't want their bosses yelling at them when they screw up, they don't like the attitudes of customers who can be very demanding, they don't like being asked to work beyond their scheduled time. They also don't like being asked to clean, and they don't like that there is no upward mobility.
These generations are quite different from previous generations, because they don't put the same priority on work, they put their social life ahead of work. Back in the 70s, my expectation when I went to work was far different and I expect that I am not alone in that even on this forum.
Who knows, maybe they are right and we put up with far more than we should have. But the bottom line is that they aren't going back to work. In the case of fast food, they are probably pushing the system towards more automation faster than it might have normally happened. Maybe there will be a work place shift in the attitudes of management. But, we all know that Biden spoon feeding them money every month is not helping them to force them back to work.
