This gun carrying guy was released today on $10,000. bond Charged with making a terroristic threat, facing 4-7 years in prison and deportation. He was born in Ukrain and came here at age two. He's 20 now, married with a small child. He did an interview with local station today. He said he talked to the manager of the store before he went there and asked if it was ok to carry a long gun in the store because he didn't want to leave it in the car. He was told, accordig to him, that it would be fine. He had the rifle hanging on his shoulder, pointed down and never touched it. Said nobody paniced or said anything to him. When the manager pulled the fire alarm everybody left the store peacefully and he didn't even realize the alarm was because of him. He said, of course it was stupid considering the recent shooting, which never crossed his mind. He said he did a very stupid thing and is lucky to be alive, thankful the retired fireman was professionally trained and didn't just open fire. The interview was on KY3tv in Springfied MO (where I live) not sure if it's online. I believe I heard that he has retained Dee Wampler, who is one of the biggest Defense lawyers in town. Besides the stupidity of it, I heard the charge requires making an actual threat, which he didn't. It's an open carry state. It's not unusual to see people with handguns. It will be interesting to follow. I haven't heard anything about the legality of the FMret drawing on him and holding him until police arrived, just a few minutes. While I wouldn't question the sensibilty of it, I wonder if it was actually legal. I'm not up on all the legalities. But it looks like the law could use some refining.
