Exactly. I think of it as a ring instead of the conventional line with conservatism and liberalism on either end. The far right and the far left eventually converge; each requiring totalitarianism to rule. In my old age I've become much more tolerant in my social views and acceptance of others that are "different" while becoming even more conservative in my fiscal positions. On social issues my far right friends call me a RINO because I (think for myself and) do not allow Rush et al. to dictate my opinions. When in fact it is my belief that personal freedom trumps my personal opinions. The government (and neighbors) should stay out of your personal business and mine.
