Pikeski's post started me thinking again about a telescope for the lake.
Had looked into them and figured there where basically 2 types reflector and refractor. Looks like refractor (long style) can be used for landscape and astronomy and reflecting (short style) is really only good for astronomy. But I could be way wrong here.
Really want one which could be used by day to look out onto the lake, etc and at night for astronomy with a star guide program. Astronomy does not have to reach Pluto, however Jupiter and Saturn would be nice. Budget under $500.
Can anyone help me out here as I do not have a clue as to which telescope is the right one, which manufacturer, which eyepieces, power of eyepieces, other accessories such as a tripod, etc, etc, etc.
Any assistance would be appreciated, as the night skies are beautiful on the lake as compared to the big city skies.
And no Feb - It is not to be used for Peeping Tom activities - LOL. Figured I better state that before Feb saw my post.
