As another thought, maybe Joyrider will not have to sell his or her place but rather is thinking of increased value. This could qualify the Lake place for refinancing for a higher mortgage, second mortgage or home equity loan to help with college cost. This loan will then be tax deductible for both Federal & State Income Taxes.

Also with prices going up, you will see rent or lease rates increase. I agree it would hurt most of us to have to sell, but your child's education would have priority.
