Wixie loves to point out that the approval of Brexit did not cause the UK economy to go into a downward spiral.  Well, Wixie have you checked the value the pound stirling lately?  Have you heard about PM May's warnings forecast of many companies departing Britain after separation?  Have you heard the EU's warnings that the UK can no special status nor favorable consideration in exit negotiations?  Have you seen the articles about British economic planners drastically scaling back on their forecasts of future growth and about entire economic sectors cutting future expansion plans and instead concentrating on how to handle a contraction?  have you heard about polls in the UK showing most people are now thinking they screwed up and quantifying the growing pessimism about the future, especially among the youth who are the future? 

Sometime it take a few months or years to realize you have made a big mistake.  If the US is dumb enough, God forbit, to choose Trump it will not take nearly as long as it has taken the Brits!
