It's been my thought for some time now that the GOP is heading toward a split of some sort, and I would be interested in other folks' thoughts on that. My reasoning is that the party seems too polarized, and the old line moderate Republicans are seeing the hard pull to the right (that is, the Tea Party) and they just can't seem to come to terms with each other. Moderates can't be proud of the extremists, or the "I'll stop at nothing to roll back the clock" right-wingers because they are grid-locking the decision making process and causing lots of embarrassment to the GOP "brand". And the Tea Party is Ok with that. Could a billionaire like Trump fuel that split for his own political plans? Could the time be right for him to lead the extreme right wing out of the GOP?
