Lifer,
I am pretty sure I qualify as an experienced boater. Not only have I navigated the Lake for more than 20 years without incident, for 10+ years I did the same in the Abaco's Bahamas. If we cant get their by boat then I also have thousands of hours "navigating" & flying aircraft. I can fly you anywhere in the world and land safely with less than 1 mile visibilty and 100' ceiling.
My point is, I am not some weekend warrior that is on the lake just driving around with no regard or understanding. Its also not hard to beileve that some aftermarket added lights done inproperly could cause the issues you speak of.
I cant imagine that large corporations like Brunswhick would design, approve, install and market additional lighting options that canceled out the effectiveness of night time navigation lights. That would open themselves up for huge liability.
This entire thread started with a simple question. What is the law? If you didnt know, which apparently you didn't then you have nothing add in terms of knowing the law only your insults about my experience and the type person you think I am. ,
My advice, if you see a moving blue object and you cant determin the direction of travel, make a 180 degree turn away and create seperation.
I personally have not had any issue with appraching vessels with blue lights and the ability to detremine their direction of travel. However as stated earlier the docking lights are an entirely different situation. I will also add that most boats that I have encountered with them on tend to be older drivers who dont even reconize that their on.
Maybe as we get older and are not able to distinguish navigation lights or notice the docking lights on your boat activated, that one should consider they have become too experienced as a boater and get it to the dock by sun down.
Like I stated in my second post of this thread. Its not about being cool or look at me. It about enjoying something your passionate about and buying what fits your taste. If we only did things nessasary on the lake : Why would anyone buy a boat that goes faster than 20mph?
Why would anyone care about the color of their boat? As one poster stated, the passengers cant see it so it must be look at me.
Cheers and enjoy this season on this wonderful Lake. Take joy in that fact the each boater on this lake, lives in a country that affords them the right to express their individuality in what they purchase and enjoy.
