I thought what they would do is pour the new slab on dry land then push it out and connect it to the old slab.

Mckay - How did they connect the old slab they pushed into the water to the new slab on dry land as the old slab would not have had any rebar sticking out of it to tie back into the new slab? Or if it did I guess they jack hammered away some of the old slab.
