You said lets get back to the fun and friendship. I think that most people have forgotten the fact that some of us may possibly loose a part of our lives that we hold so dear. Everyone with one if these boats is making some sacrifice for their ownership. Some more than others.

This has further divided boating communities. I think we should all unite.

This to me is like the State of Alabama telling you that it is a crime to own an SUV, truck, or 4x4 since they have a greater environmental impact than compact cars, and quite frankly you never use their "Sport or 4x4" most of the time anyway. Having the right of choice is what makes us Americans. We accept the constraints of operating our vehicles within the law, so what is the difference with boats? I think someone needs to define a problem and focus on it, instead of jumping the gun with generic legislation.
