Hound, if we could agree to limit abortion to instances of rape, incest and actual physical harm to the mother we would be very close to agreement on this issue. I will say on the issue of rape or incest, as horrible as that is as a way to create a life, the baby is still innocent but is asked to pay for the rape/incest with their life. But if abortion were limited to those instances then those of us who are pro-life would consider it a massive win. At that point we would be in a much better place to provide counsel to women in that situation and if it is legal and they are determined to go ahead with the abortion then so be it.
To me that was the massive problem with Roe v Wade and the Casey decision. It placed no boundaries on abortion from conception onward. Even these hearbeat bills would save the lives of millions of innocent children and are embraced by the pro-life movement. As for your joke about contraception, given how easily accessible it is I think we are already in a place where far too many are irresponsible. But again, I don't believe denying a child the opportunity to live is a proportionate response.
One irony of this whole thing is that suddenly the left is acknowledging that women give birth. I can assure you the irony is lost of them but not on me. After this returns to a normal level of insanity they will be back to birthing people in no time.
