My initial thoughts on Colin Rand Kaepernick  was that he was one smart dude.  He has not been performing so well, pretty much since that Super Bowl game, and was probably going to lose his job, and perhaps be released from the team.

So, he disowns the American Flag in a form of protest.  He is criticized.  He has rights.  He is released.  Now he can say he was discriminated against.  Brilliant
