Read about this yesterday, and it left me wondering:
Given NC and Mississippi's new laws regarding bathroom use, will we have to start carrying copies of our birth certificate and pictures of our private parts for the bathroom police?
And will we have to start carrying official proof of our political affliation? Will businesses have to specify in their ads just who they will accept as customers, or perhaps ad, specifically stating who they will not serve?
Will we have to carry proof of our religious affiliations, a copy of our DNA, so we can prove we are from whatever cultural background we claim?
Where does it end?
On my way moving down here, I was driving a very packed rented van and got a flat tire out on the back roads. It was a hot, humid day, I was frazzled, my cell phone would only work in one spot and I really didn't have anyone to call, except 911, who dispatched a professional to help me. He was really a guy that helped broken down tractor trailers. He didn't inquire about any of the above, but spent time laying in weeds getting my tire off (but first we had to upack half the van to get to the spare tire). At the end he gave me a very reasonable bill and I was moved to give him a very generous tip (for helping me that day, I would have given him everything in my wallert), and he thanked me profusely. And I told him I would remember him in my prayers as he was my angel that day. And that seemed to please him more than any money I had given him. I like to think that he saw a frazzled human being in distress, and he was a human being that knew how to help me. We never exchanged political views, he didn't ask me about my sexual orientation, my religion or anything of that nature.
So why has that now changed?
