I am a big NFL fan and love professional football, unlike other professional sports upon which I have soured over the years.  NBA is too gangsta and when the players were complaining during the strike that it wasn't about money, it was about feeding their family I tuned out.  Pretty much the same with professional baseball.  But professional football seemed to me until recently to be different.  Some observations.

The whole concussion thing is turning into a fiasco.  Call me cynical but for someone to claim that they had no idea that years of high velocity impacts and repeated concussions could actually harm their health is a little much for me to swallow.  Falls into the category of duh!  And if you know any former NFL players you will know that their bodies are a wreck after playing the game so why should the brain be any different?  For these players to suddenly jump up and claim they had no idea is just BS.  Its just like smokers claiming they didn't know cigarettes caused cancer......oh wait a second....they did get away with that one didn't they?

These penalties for hitting "defenseless" players, using the helmet and roughing the QB have also gotten out of hand. Soon enough they might as well get rid of the pads and play flag football.  I don't blame the officials, they are calling the game the way they have been told.  It is the league office that is screwing things up.  I am all for providing some level of protection but this is going too far and is severely penalizing players for doing what they need to make a play.

Moving the kickoff forward so 80% of the time there is no kickoff return has eliminated a big part of the game and a source of big excitement for the fans.  At the rate it is going they should just do away with it altogether and start the offense on the 20 yard line.  I'm sorry but I really don't think there are any more injuries during kick offs than with the rest of the game.  And we still have punt returns which is pretty much the same as a kickoff in terms of collision velocities.

And now we have some libtard ESPN moron wondering why we have a war anthem at the beginning of every game....and speaking of ESPN, it seems like they are going the way of every other media outlet and are being infiltrated by left wing nuts who will ruin it for the rest of the country like they have with media and education. Dumbing it down and feminizing it.......

On a positive note, I do like the replay.  I think it has made the game less susceptible to a big error costing a team in a big game.  And it doesn't slow the game down too terribly much.  But I am still very worried about the chickification of the NFL......its bad enough what is going on in the military.
