In the last 60 days most of the state ranges from 25% to 75% of normal so while we are not in a drought we are behind for sure. Rainfall at the lake is not the issue. It's what is happening in the watershed for the Tallapoosa which starts around Rome, GA. If you look at the historical precip map we are definitely behind. Also doesn't help that the lake is used for peak demand power generation and I am sure with the heat we have been having there is peak demand which means they are running generators and using lake water. All in all I would say we are doing OK as compared to prior years when we had a really serious deficit. Not as good as last year but I also recall a lot of complaints last year about all the rained out weekends.
