Yup. Exactly.
With the exception of maybe Nixon, I think most Presidential candidates (and those that go on to be President) are charming people. You don't get to that level of politics without having a certain amount of charisma. One of the things people always say about Bill Clinton is how charismatic he is, and I have read that in person GWB, is extremely warm and charming. I was just listening to Anne Romney on the news, and she seems extremely charming (probably more so than her husband).
I kinda doubt that Obama is longing for a beer with Kharzi. I think that the whole of the military and the Administration are pretty unhappy with him. I've read that he is bi-polar and impossible to deal with. But, I suspect you are alluding to Obama inviting the professor and the cop to a beer at the WH. Almost every President, early on, comments on something they should just stay out of, and comes back to bite them. They are all human. Remember Bush with "helluva job Brownie"?
