Anyone that takes that position based on this data is missing the point and is misguided. What this information does is highlight the fact that we should not keep schools closed for everyone and should instead make accommodations for those students or teachers that have some risk factor either personally or at home. It points out quite clearly that our emphasis should be on protection of those over age 65 and younger people with co-morbidities and let everyone else go about their business in a prudent way.
The issue I have with our response to this is to take a one size fits all approach. The widespread closures were unnecessary and caused more harm than good. This data demonstrates that the Wuhan virus is less deadly than the ordinary flu for people under the age of 65, which is the majority of the working population. Our response to the virus was driven by politics and not science.
