We looked and thought about a generac for years before buying. If you are serious start now looking for a used propane tank. I found one for $100 delivered. Had it for over two years before finally getting the generator. If you have a tank allready that supplies other appliances it is still better to have a second tank for the generator. It uses a different size line. If you have a old electrical box you probably will need to have a new one put in. The new box if needed, a transfer box, and the generator will be done by whoever you decide to go with. The setup , filling and funning of any gas line is handeld by whoever you buy your propane from. After having it installed in May 0f 2020 we have had at least a dozen outages ranging from 30 minutes to 38 hours. We also purchased a couple of uniteruptible power supplis from Amazon so that in the few seconds of no power the TV, dish, modem and router do not go out. The system test itself every two weeks for any problems and you can get a app for your phone to be notified of all tests and power outages since there generators all are connected to your wifi. We used C & T Electric from Alexander City for the generator and Apex Gas out of Tallassee location for propane. We also have a gas stove, fire logs and tankless hot water system.
