The inundated Santee River channel swings close to an island. A point (33.43780-80.27353) comes off the island towards the river channel. Cypress trees grow in shallow water on the rear of the point. This island is the site of a brick kiln where bricks were made years ago. On the NW end of the island is the old kiln building still standing, 50 yds. to the North of the building is the start of COVER that is spred out 150 yds. to the East. Go on google earth, go back in time and see clear, shallow water where you can see the cover. On the West end of the island 30 yds. from the last cypress tree is a 130 yd. square of under water pilings that held up an old building, these pilings are in rows from North to South. Hard bottom and mussel beds in the area. The SE corner of the square is at 33.43574-80.27746. Also farther West is a state fish attractor at 33.43746-80.28107. Behind the two islands is shallow water and cypress trees.
If you can't catch a fish in this area, better head to the fish market!
