Flood insuranc for homes in a designated flood zone is required for a home that has a mortgage on it.  If you are NOT in a designated flood zone or own nothing on your home no flood insurance is required.  The problem is, the ''non existant'' global warming has caused areas, that have never been prone to flooding in the past, flood!  Of course since this is all a ''Chinese hoax'', the feds will probably not be permitted to update the flood maps used to determine designated flood zones subject to the flood insurance requirement.
