Because of completetly understandable fear this nation is seriously on the brink of trashing some of the things that make us exceptional.
In 2002 Geroge W Bush proposed outlawing the sale of guns to anyone on the terrorist no fly watch list as part of the Patriot Act. Under tremendous pressure from the NRA with their "foot in the door" rationale, congress said no and, as of the moment, is continuing to deny support of such a restriction. Yesterday speaker Ryan refused to say whether he was in favor of such a restriction even in the face of Paris and the frenzy to tighten security even further than authorized by the original Patriot Act not to mention the recently watered-down extension.
If we are going to trash our constitution should the beloved 2d amendment, as interpreted by the NRA, be the only one exempt from tinkering?
