Memorial weekend is upon us and although it is not a big fireworks weekend there will be many discharged all around the lake. It s3ms every year after holiday weekends involving fireworks someone posts seeking help finding their four legged family member. Most dogs don't respond well to fireworks and will run off trying to get away from them. Please keep this in mind as the holiday approaches and secure your pets appropriately. If you have a new pet be especially mindful because you don't know how they will react. It naturally goes without saying that if your pet has a history of running away from the noise @and confusion you need make sure they are secure.

My advice to all dog owners is to contact your vet and ask them to prescribe some "doggie downers" for them, especially for the 4th of July period. Even if a dog doesn't run off the noise is very stressfull. If they hide under the sofa, in a closet or some other unusual behavior it is a sign of stress. The medication will help them tremendously. We love our furry family and it is our responsibility to keep them safe. Helping reduce the trauma of fireworks may save both pets and owners from being separated and possibly lost forever.. I will get off my soapbox now with one last comment to say if your vet won't prescribe the medication you should find a new vet IMO.
