Many years ago Alabama had a senator named "Cotton" Tom Heflen who was quite a character. Back then, before election time, The candidates would ride trains, stop and give speeches to the public.

Cotton Tom and a senator from Texas were riding there election train. Cotton Tom remembered that every thing the Texas Senator saw, well, they had something bigger and better in Texas. We have cows twice that big in Texas. Our pine trees are twice as tall..... They got a bit tired of his bragging.

During one of the stops Cotton Tom looked out of the window and saw a boy with a snapping turtle. He sneaked off the train and bought the turtle. That night he sliped it in the Texas Senator's bunk.

That night the Texas Senator clmbed into his bunk the turtle clamped on his toe! He boiled out of hid bunk screaming, "What is it. What is it".

Cotton Tom just rolled over and said, "That is an Alabama bed bug. Got any bigger ones in Texas?"

That is a story my grand father told me and I never knowed  him to lie......much!
