BP is spending and losing a huge amount of money every hour the leak is not fixed. They may be culpable in the events leading up to the blowout, but they can't be blamed for not putting forth the effort to address the disaster.

The real tragedy of this event is the fact that we are miles offshore and miles underwater searching for oil when we could be onshore and at more manageable depths to confront such an accident. But then I guess we are saving those onshore reserves for somebody's grandchildren. My question would be 'whose grandchildren?"
