Yes, it is never far from my mind that Putin is an ex-KGB, and that the saddest day of his life was when the USSR collapsed. I'm not saying that he isn't a dangerous player nor that we should trust him. I think he is evil and would stop at nothing to rebuild Russia to their former glory by bringing down the U.S. I have actually long worried the Russia and China are conspiring to bring the U.S. to it's knees.
I guess I just see a continum from the 60s until now that people are embracing this Utopian ideal that everyone is equal, that rich people are the enemy and must be made to pay. Those with logic can see that given human nature, it will never work. It's like the concept of "being kind" - we're all supposed to be kind so no one feels bad, yet when you look at the world, kindness is not a natural trait. Yes, good people will rise to an occassion and help, but "kindness" is not natural, and in history, the "kind" have not fared very well. I guess that is why we see the bill boards all over urging us to be "kind".
