Remember those prices well. Also remember AR-15s after the Clinton ban that were up around $2k.
That gold bar/coin will be worth squat when the schift hits the fan because it *used* to be worth something.
Only thing that will be worth anything is fuel/oil/food/guns/ammo - with the last two you can get the rest if you have to.
a 60 inch TV, cellphone, gold coin or paper money, stocks etc will be worth zero. You can not eat it, you can try to barter or trade - but who would trade home grown corn for a useless trinket or paper.
I guess you could melt the gold down and cast bullets - but when you can pry lead weights off a car for much less hassle and a lower melting point. Of course there are recommendations of lead hardness so that you can keep from wearing out your barrels - but in a time of crisis you do what is needed. If needed my lead scuba weights can be melted down quickly and cast - probably around 100 lbs worth.
In terms of 38 got plenty, and lead molds for both wadcutter and regular rounds between that the muzzle loaders for most hunting when it hits the fan. Been picking up brass at gun ranges for a long time, even for stuff I do not have and trade with some friends who do.
