You and Jack, the female deer are great at making broad assumptions based on significantly less than perfect knowledge of what you are talking about.  It is true that some private schools are "hoity toity" but most, at least in our area, don't come anywhere close to that.  They exist because the public school system in Montgomery, Alabama is a disaster once you get beyond the elementary grades.  People scrimp and save so they can afford the tuition for a private scchoo,l not to feed their kids' egos, but to get them a decent education.  

And yes, some private schools came to being in the fifties because at the time parents didn't want to deal with the integration issue.  But you know what?  That was the fifties, not the late twenty-teens.  My son and daughter graduated from a private school in Montgomery and their classmates included all ethnicities and a broad range of economic strata.  We couldn't really afford to send them there but we couldn't afford not to.  So while the "lily white" description might have been accurate at one time, it is no more.  

You and JD are wrong to so quickly place people on this forum into your neat...and negative...cubby holes, but if you have never met the other posters and sat down to really talk with them your accusations of racism, bigotry, and the other negative things aren't worth a plug nickel.
