I live in a very rural county east of the Mississippi, and no, it’s not in Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi or Georgia.  

Some of our county still to this day has no zoning and most of the rest of it has multiple-use zoning which is next to no zoning.  When zoning was first discussed for the county, there were a couple of old demagogues with long years of service on county council and lots of power.  We’ve had a good many retirees “from away” move here and of course they saw the need for zoning because most of them had lived with it where they came from.  Well, the old demagogues did their demagogery and had the locals trained to practically foam at the mouth every time someone even said the word “zoning.”  They told the locals their freedom and their way of life was at stake so the locals went all in on anti-zoning.  Now that we have the system we do, people are beginning to see the error of their ways.  We’ve had cement plants go up right next to mansions and we have horse venues dump lots-full of manure next to neighborhoods to name just 2 issues zoning would have prevented.

Those old demagogues didn’t care — they got re-elected and some of their faithful followers still foam at the mouth when they hear the word “zoning”.

That’s what’s going on in the Dimwit party right now.  Just say “Trump” or “racism” or “immigration” around them and they virtually start to turn their heads 360 degrees and spew pea soup. If they were capable of this much introspection, they would be appalled that they have fallen in line with the thinking of a bunch of hayseeds way out in the sticks with little education.  BUT THEY HAVE!
