Its always a debatable topic--whether to vote for the person or the party. The problem with voting for the person is that more than 95% of the time a person will either abandon the principles he campaigned on and vote with his party due to pressures of the party bureaucracy, or else be allowed by party chiefs to abstain or vote against the party if his vote is not needed. The political life expectancy of a person who votes against his party when his vote is needed by the party, especially for democrats, is very limited.
I almost always decide which party has the platform i most support and then vote for party. Of course thats the republican candidate, because who could vote for a communist.
People say what if the democrat is brilliant and the republican is an idiot? Still not a problem, as i would rather vote to have an idiot working for me than vote to have a genius working against me.
