Even I didn't anticipate that Biden would set such a low bar for "looking better" but he outdid even my worst fears.  I actually believed he pivoted left to appease the crazy leftists and would govern more from the center.  Bill Clinton was the master of this because he was more ambitious than ideological.  He wanted a second term and he knew he would have do certain things to get it.  Hence, welfare reform, not going to war with business, etc.  But maybe Biden either doesn't care about a second term or he is so mentally diminshed that he is simply doing and saying what he's told to do and say.  Or maybe he has always lied about what he believed and is now free to be himself.
