I've found that keeping those huge old tube TV's out and in the open might be a good deterrent. The would be burglars look in the window and decide to move to greener pastures.  I don't even have cable service so the old TV's serve as decoys, or scarecrows. I learned years ago to bring anything of these burglars consider valuable......leaf blowers, tools, etc.
