As you know, I too have witnessed the Washington Merry Go Round from inside the Beltway. It is terribly easy to forget what makes the Washington scene tick. Without the Steve Northingtons of this country there would be nothing to support the politicians, and they seem to forget that (does the name Eric Cantor ring any bells?).
There is no doubt that international diplomacy/politics is a a necessary component of our national security strategy. But one must negotiate from a position of strength, and it is the grass roots of American entrepreneurs and the decisions made in boardrooms throughout the country that give this nation its strength. Sadly, what I see is a weakening, or at worst nationalization of the things that make us different and strong. Couple that with a President (please note I didn't say leader) who seems hell bent on lowering our stature in the international community, and we stand to lose what truly made us different.
Bottom line: Praise to entrepreneurs like CAT BOAT and the others who struggle to make a living doing real work. Jeff, Phil, Heather, Mr Cole, and as far as that goes, Mitchell Marine and all you other small businesses, I salute you.
