No doubt Atlanta has suffered from some of the same issues that other large metropolitan areas have experienced over the last 50 years of our war on poverty.  If results are any indication, despite having spent trillions this is a war we have clearly lost.  Every time I go to the ATL airport I am reminded about how votes are bought.  My favorite is the people standing around the auto ticket dispensers at the entrance to the parking lots.  Almost as useless as the people riding around the parking lots on bikes.  In the good old days of the mafia they called these no work jobs.  Makes me wonder how many no show jobs there are at ATL.

For the longest time Cobb County has avoided becoming part of MARTA.  No doubt they noticed what happened at Perimeter Mall and weren't interested in the additional crime that comes with train service.  But I suspect that given the high density housing in SW Cobb it will only be a matter of time before they bring MARTA and all the crime here.
