Interesting, I had not heard of Laureate Universities before. And it does look like Bill Clinton was paid a huge sum for participating as Honorary Chancellor. The University has also been criticized for excessive advertising in countries other than the US, where it is barely known at all (except as Sylvan Learning Centers is its parent company).
From what I can find, it is a for-profit educational company that operates educational services in various foreign countries and has the support of a number of reputable global investors, with an apparent mission of increasing the educational opportunities of people around the world. Its enrollment has been estimated as high as ½ million students.
Increasing educational opportunities around the world does not seem like a bad thing to do at all, and it should be noted that this company was doing so without charitable support or as part of taxpayer funded US Foreign Aid. I would consider Bill Clinton’s honorarium to be really exorbitant, but that doesn’t put Laureate University in the same class as Trump University. Laureate delivered programs across the educational spectrum, offered in parts of the world that really need to increase education to their citizens… while Trump University was marketing a get-rich quick real estate scheme.
