The thing of it is that conservatives are accused of such ill intentions by the far left and even some not-so-far left people.  It doesn't seem that those folks can understand or accept that conservative goals are for what, in the conservatives' minds, is good for the country and the difference in many cases from the left wing approach is the "how" of accomplishing those goals. 

I guess what bothers me the most is that left wingers (GF excepted) don't seem to be able to engage in a serious discussion without getting angry.  I know it is certainly that way with at least one member of my family and those he chooses to befriend.  Seems there is no room for logic and reason and a calm, intellectually-based discussion of the issues and how to solve them. 

And finally, the left wing seems to not be able to get to the "what" without expressing things in terms of "who".  In my mind logic and reason doesn't change based on gender, race, sexual orientation or any other such characteristic.
