I was watching her press conference today - I'll bet she was a real springbutt in school - she is answering the reporters questions before they are even out of their mouths.  I have come to the conflusion that this Administartion has a set of talking points that they will not deviate from.  I watched some of the talking heads this weekend and no matter what they were asked, they responded with their talking points which often had nothing to do with the question they were asked.  

It might amuse you to know that Biden led off his Afghanistan update today with a big thank you to Nancy for getting his social agenda amendment passed in the House.  He went on and on about how great it was going to be for "middle class families" when his social bill was passed.  Patting himself on the back again.  Then he moved onto his big success with the G7 and how he has them all on board and they are all in agreement about the 31 August deadline, even though they have all said publicly that they didn't agree.  By the time he got onto Afghanistan, he was just reiteriting numbers - and I think he is trying to lay the groundwork for us leaving a lot of our Afghan interpreters and workers behind.  No one thinks that they can get them all  out and the taliban is now not letting Afghan through no matter what paperwork they have.  He cited concerns about ISIS-K attacking our forces, but that is just an excuse.  

I think you asked why they sent the CIA Director.  He is a much more experienced diplomat than Blinken, and also he has access to Black program money that other departments don't have.  I see a couple of possible scenerios - one, that he wasn't authoirized to offer the Taliban enough money for them to fall off the 31 August deadline.  2/ that the money is on the table, and the Taliban doesn't want to fall off their position just yet - nor does Biden.  They could wait a few days, to make their point that they are briniging the US to its knees, and then capitulate so that Biden can look like the great negotiator.  If the truth is that he didn't manage to move the Taliban, then he can toss out ISIS-K "danger ot our people" excuse.  I think he has already accepted that they are going to abandon Afghan allies.
