I have not been wearing a mask. I’m not sure it is all that effective. That said, I have been conscientiously maintaining the “social distancing” especially in public places (e.g. food pantry volunteer work, grocery store, etc.) I’m thinking I’m going to make social distancing… in public… a lifetime affectation. I can easily give up hand-shaking and that damn man-hug crap.
I have no problem saluting men and women whom I respect. Guess what… most don’t have problems returning that salute! A firm and cheerful greeting is satisfactory for all others… most instinctively return the greeting.
The excessive hand washing/hand sanitizing is also something I might keep doing. It could very well keep me from getting colds. Like MM, I believe that keeping one’s hands clean and away from one’s face is the most valuable behavior. I keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in each of our cars… in the door hand slot. I carry it with me into grocery stores.
I do get my annual flu shots. I’m sure there will be a vaccine in the fall or next winter. Besides, my GP is pretty tyrannical about my inoculations. She interrogates me about that at every annual physical. Though I am over 70, I am not at all overweight… I’m healthy… active… and on NO pharmaceuticals.
