A German Shorthaired Pointer was selected best in show over the favored German Shepard. Spectators were up in arms because the selecting judge said he picked the GSP because he was alert and focused in the show ring, having already proved that he, as well as the others, conformed strictly to the AKC show standards for their breeds. The German Shepard did not even get the reserve spot. There is talk of nepotism, because the GSP that won is the great grandson of the GSP that won Best In Show in 2005, and conspiracy theories abound.
Seems that the only vote that mattered has been sustained, over the protests of the general public, and the owner/breeder/handlers of the dogs that also competed and lost.
