As for me it seems that things have gotten so bad and our current government so destructive to America that posting about it on the Forum almost trivializes the seriousness of the matter. I am a very optimistic person but the last 18 months has taken much of it out of me. I never thought in my lifetime I would see a government so out of control and so out of touch that they would pass legislation that will harm this country for decades.
I cannot tell you how many people have called me over the last 2 to 3 months to network, find out what we are doing, seeing if there is any opportunities, etc. And I am now convinced it is only going to get worse, much worse. Having been the purveyor of doom and gloom I will say that America has a chance to begin to change our course in November. I hope that people will at least no longer say there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. As imperfect as Republicans are we have now seen in all its glory what happens when the left wing nuts control the House, Senate and WH. There is a difference......and it is a large difference that many Independents have figured out and are disavowing their votes in 2008.......many, but not all.......
I know......its all Bush's fault. You know, objectively speaking if you look at the first six years of the Bush presidency when the GOP controlled the House and Senate and compare it to the last ~4 years where Dems controlled Congress and last 19 months when they also controlled the WH I think their argument about not wanting to go back to Bush years is simply an insane point to make. Most Americans are now looking back fondly on the first six years of Bush as our salad days. Ever since Dems took control of Congress things have gone in the toilet and the flushing accelerated when Obama/Biden were elected. I actually hope they continue to make this point because when they do my response would be as follows: Conditions up to when Dems took control of Congress: Unemployment less than 6% versus 10% today, annual average deficits of $160B versus $1T today, stock market at 14,000 versus 10,000 today, etc., etc. Yep, going back to the Bush years seems like a pretty good deal to someone not blinded by BDS.
