I know some folks that showed up at the condos, only to realize that the auction was held at another site. D'oh!
Plus (someone please correct me if I am wrong) I don't think they were "absolute auctions." Meaning, the seller had to get a minimum price or they were not obligated to sell to you.
John tip: if any auction company ever advertises / talks to you / whatever, the first question out of your mouth should be: Is it an absolute auction? Keep asking until you get an answer. The only possible answers are 1. Yes 2. No 3. Parcels a,b, and c are absolute but parcels x,y, and z are not.
Most auctions I see advertised are not clearly stated that they are NOT absolute. As a buyer, you want it to be absolute. So if you only bid $1, and no one out bids you, you get it.
But I am really curious to know how it turned out. Maybe it went over well. Hope so. With the exception of the auction of Harbor Pointe condos, every Lake Martin auction I can think of in the last 10 years could not be considered successful to the seller.
