The Corps of Engineers announced yesterday that Lake Harris (Wedowee) has been approved for a winter lake level variance to increase the winter level by two feet because of the continuing drought confirmed by both the Corps and NOAA.

Alabama Power notified us on Monday that a similar request will probably be made of FERC for Lake Martin next week. This could mean a higher winter level (483') and an earlier re-fill schedule, if the variance is approved.
