A major benefit of the 7' winter drawdown instead of the 10' drawdown is the ability to fill the lake during drought periods. In 2007, the lake level was about 6' below full on July 4. If we had started that year with only a 7' drawdown, we would have only been down 3' on July 4. Somehow, the signifance of this important factor was overlooked during the FERC meeting. The winter level increase is more than about lake usage in the winter, much more.

Another possible benefit to fisherman not discussed is the improved conditions for spawning and bedding of fish, that was discussed by fisheries experts during the relicensing meetings.
